An old shape, made properly. This textured glass table lamp sets a ribbed, gently swollen glass shade on a heavy oil rubbed bronze base, the way lamps were built before they got light.

Ribbed Glass Over Weighted Bronze

The rhythm in the glass is what does the work. Each rib catches the light along its crest and lets it soften in the hollow between, so the shade never shows a hot spot and the glow reads as diffused rather than bright. The base has real weight: oil rubbed bronze with a hand finished surface, dark enough to anchor the pale shade and heavy enough that the lamp stays where you put it. Together they suggest a vintage Parisian atelier without being a copy of anything.
